Meet Chef Kate

Thirty years in the kitchen. One radiant mission.

I started cooking at five — the day I could reach the countertop, someone handed me a job. By twelve I was the family cook, dinner for four every night, baking my way through a book called Pepper Makes Me Sneeze.

Culinary school was the dream. A car accident at seventeen — my pelvis broken in four places — didn't change it. I went to PEI anyway, on a long hard road through recovery, because cooking wasn't something I did. It was who I was.

Thirty years of professional kitchens followed, lived alongside chronic pain. The turn came when it all left me so sick I could barely eat. Taking my health into my own hands meant years on a severely restrictive diet — no gluten, no dairy, no grains, hardly any nuts. Rough years. But they taught me exactly what my body can handle. And as a chef, I rebuilt my cooking inside it: gourmet, anti-inflammatory, mine.
